In the opening photo of this thread I take a punt on Bill Hartston as the spectator. I also support the Franklin camp, with Owen Hindle as a very long shot.

Is the young man in photo 1, Robert McFarland?

or from another direction completely, Brian Eley.

1/3. RFAH is correct. The other two proving tricky despite being well known. JDP knows but it was James who kindly passed me these photographs for scanning.
