Hi John,

Addition to the list of tournaments:

1948 Aug. Diamond Jubilee. Premier Reserves. B. Plymouth ENG – LW Barden 6/7, H Saunders 5.5, D Brown, HF Moxon, C Duffield, IR Napier 3, RB Copleston 2.5, SH Brocklesby 2 (8). Barden’s first adult Congress win. A Reserves C group was won by JF Barrett, a pupil of Taunton’s School, Southampton, ahead of FHC Marriott. There were 97 entries overall.

I presumably got this from the relevant CHESS Magazine, since it's not in Di Felice (the only reference guide I have to hand right now).
Yes, thanks, Colin, there was a full crosstable of this tournament, alongside three others from the 1948 Plymouth Diamond Jubilee event, in CHESS, September 1948, Vol.13/156, p275. Which I transcribed and posted on BritBase earlier this year. (Amusingly, I quite often search the internet for information about something and Google leads me back to my own website which has the answer.) I've added it to the list of tournaments that Leonard played in.

John,

I must applaud what you have done with Britbase. It seemed so sparse in the early days, but is now filling out nicely.

Combing through my notes, a few more tournaments played by Leonard came to light;

3rd Stevenson Mem, Southsea 1951 - 7th-9th, 6.5/10

Twickenham Premier, April 1956 - 5th, 1.5/5

Ilford Premier, May 1958 - 3rd-4th, 3/5

Easter Southend, March 1964 - 5th, 2.5/5

Easter Hammersmith, April 1969 - 2nd-6th, 5.5/7

5th Open Islington, Nov 1969 - 2nd-7th, 5/6

Easter Hammersmith, March 1970 - 4th-8th, 5.5/7

Open Manchester, July 1970 - 2nd-5th, 5/6

5th Int. Spalding, Oct 1970 - 6th=, 4.5/6

Glasgow Invitational Sept 1971 - 2nd, 3.5/5

Hi Colin,

Thank you for the kind words and the info. I had meant to trawl through old mags once more to look for this extra detail but you have done it for me. Thank you. I expect there will be a few more to find in due course. I have posted an update.
