Messam-Sparks is the correct spelling. At least, that's the spelling she has on her Facebook profile.

I have included the corrections which people have suggested here so far, leaving some unamended where people are unsure or the evidence is a bit flimsy. I have also included some of my own (e.g. John D Taylor 1955 U21) when a name has come back to me as I've been scanning the list.
There are a lot more unknowns in your list - do want people to send you information for all of them? For example, the 1988 Girls U15 Champion is "G O'Farrell" on your list, whereas Alex McFarlane does not list her in his original message on this thread (presumably because he has found out that her name was/is Genevieve O'Farrell).

It might be worth while for you to compare your list to Alex's.

Might be best if Alex edits his list at the top of this thread by deleting or indicating those traced.

I've just found a page where Steve Kerr, the Australian correspondence chess player, describes himself as:
Senior International Master (ICCF), former Australian Junior Champion, former British Junior Champion, former Australian Email Champion, board one Australia CC Olympiad 2004, 2006. (Rated 2613 IECG)
http://www.chessdiscountsales.com/CDS/cds.htm

I'm almost certain that he is the SGR Kerr from the 1979 British Championships now, but I've sent him an e-mail just to confirm this.

Good point, Jon. I thought that might be case - presumably I would need to check the list on the 2010 British Championship website which seems to be here - http://www.britishchess2010.com/downloa ... mpions.htm - I may have to check my list against it as you say.

I think we now have enough to go with 'Steve' for 'SGR Kerr' - thank you for this.

Michael,

I was doing that as you posted.

Still to find
1928 Boys A Mortlock
1940 Boys J Richardson
1958 U15 MJ Neave
1961Under 15: P Murphy
1965 Under 18: MN Walsh Under 16: IA Friedlander Under 14: G Campbell
1969 Girls U18: J Fielding
1984 Girls U14: D Johnson
1987 Under 15 & 14 L Jones
1989 Girls U13: K Horsfield
1992 Under 13: M Choksi Under 8: A Chowdhury
1993 Under 15: J Newman, T Walton
1999 U-100 M Watson
2000 Under 9: S Modwal

To be confirmed
1936 Boys Leonard O'Neill
1962 Under 15: Ron Moss
1980 Under 11: Joe T Hockaday
1983Under 18: Brian/Brett (?) Sharp
1989 Under 18: Mark Harris

I'm assuming it is Steve Kerr.

That makes only 24 names to find - 25 if anyone can supply names for Miss Fatima!!

I have been trying to find the names for some months and people have been emailing me and I know most of the Scots (including Brian Macfarlane who is down as R macfarlane in several places). I also had a good response at the British when people were asked.

John I emailed you a list a day or two ago which is an update on the Championship website.

"S Modwal" must surely be Sankalp Modwal, now at university in Canada.

1993 would be Joel Newman and Thomas Walton.

1987 is Lee Jones, as specifically confirmed in his father Brian's online autobiography. The family emigrated to Australia.

It is confusing as neither the McFarlane nor the Saunders list is currently fully updated. The names below are missing from both lists:

1954 Keith Sales

1955 David Tidmarsh

1959 Malcolm Firth

1969 Clive Cubitt

1970 David Wise

1977 Neil Walford

1978 Michael Bennett (a member of this forum!)

1984 Dale James James Akehurst David Essex Claire Ashby

Leonard

Yes, I'm in the process of updating my list from Alex's list as it stands at the championship. It probably doesn't help that I've set Britbase to delete incoming emails which don't have the word 'Britbase' in the title! (My rather Draconian method for spam-proofing it - I think Alex's email to me which he mentioned earlier disappeared in this way). Re Neil Walford - I (sort of) knew that but had the idea his name was spelled 'Neale'?! Could be a figment of my overactive imagination. Many thanks for all your names - I shall add them to my list.
