Notes on the life of Howard Staunton

Post by John Townsend » Tue Feb 01, 2011 10:38 am

I expect shortly to be arranging the printing of my book, Notes on the life of Howard Staunton, which I intend will be printed in a limited edition. To enable me to judge how many copies should be printed, I am inviting people to register interest in purchasing one or more copies when it is published.

The book is extensively researched and is the product of about ten years' work. It contains such of my biographical gleanings about Staunton as I feel should be published at this stage, with a bias towards his private life and the human side of his nature. There are surprises and very much that is new. I have also occasionally strayed a little to report interesting and unsuspected biographical facts about a number of his acquaintances, clearing up a few mysteries in the process. There are copious notes at the end of each chapter, quoting source references, etc..

As the number of copies printed will be strictly limited, you may wish to to register your interest at this stage.
