An old Centymca Chess Club watering hole - especially in summer. The place where I first heard Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street.

Such an old watering hole that I think it was the venue for my first of many under age drinks in the 1970s. I'll try to be there at some stage during the day.

If the weather stays as it is and the cricket is rained off there is very much possibility I could make it, although on Saturday we were one of the few teams to play, and one of the opponents scored what could prove to be a world record individual score of 330 not out off 50 overs.

I did manage to find some old photographs, although not to the standard of today's technology. These featured Mohammed Elsherif (who I believe was once Mike Wills's lodger), Sasha Kennway, Mike Wills, Gary Stevens, John Rusz, Bob Collins, David Futter, David Farndon and also a simulraneous with Sandys Dickinson and Paul Lamford in the background, and I believe Aaron Rose and Ian Lloyd Thomas playing.

An individual scored 330 n.o. off 50 overs! Blimey! How many balls did he face? At least a score of sixes, I imagine??? Do you have the match card?

The cricketer whose name is David Taylor made his 330 from 160 balls, and his innings consisted of 31 6's, 19 4's, 15 2's. 35 1's and a 3.

If you type in Totton and Eling Trojans Cricket Archive it should bring up Totton and Eling Second XI v Trojans in 2012 where you can view the full match details. Let me know if you attempt this without success.

I am in fact scorer for Trojans so as you can see it was a difficult afternoon for our bowlers. With his score 247 he was caught off a no ball, which was signalled due to the number of players in the ring.

Organisation for the June 16th reunion is now well underway. As a memory jogger I have scanned two pages from "The CentYMCA Story" by Jimmy Adams with a part membership list in case we can track down more ex-members. Tried OCRing the pages but the quality was awful. I'll type all the names in by hand shortly.

Anyway, here we are:

That brings back the very faint memory of an away match on a fine summer afternoon in Sutton (Surrey).

Interesting to see Bill Holden on the list. He is definitely still going strong as of last summer, when he was a regular at the Streatham Library afternoons. I'm sure he will be only too happy to turn up at the reunion.

My great-aunt lived round the corner, in Little Russell Street, for (I believe) more than fifty years.

I did come across the list of 215 players that we registered for the London League at the start of the 1984/85 season, about 30 of which also appeared on the 1976 list, and I also still have the majority of the list of about 120 players that we registered with the British Chess Federation for that season.

I also have other items arising from about the same time including details of an EGM held that season, as well as London League results and tables for season 1987/88.

A small update: William Watson and Michael Brown are now attending.

Anyone got contact details for Jon Ady, Neil Carr, Gary Kenworthy or Sue Caldwell?

If it is any help there is an address, telephone number and email address for Gary Kenworthy in the 2012 ECF yearbook (Page 35). The only information I have on the other two is fairly limited.

I notice that Neil Carr has played a few games for Writtle this year so Ivor Smith or someone out that way should have contact details for him

Thanks. Do you know if Trevor and Sue Carr are still on the chess scene? They were very active between 1978-83 as I recall.
