Out this afternoon for a lockdown-respite stroll in Streatham Cemetery, Garratt Lane SW17 OLT I chanced upon F. St. J. Steadman's grave - a complete fluke. His wife buried there as well.
51.432488, -0.175322 or 51°25'57.0"N 0°10'31.2"W
In reasonable nick - but needs a bit of tlc to make all the inscriptions legible.
A pleasant surprise, and adds to the tally of local chessers buried thereabouts: Henry Bird, Wyke Bayliss, Reginald Bayliss, Carus Colliver...and who knows, maybe one day Martin G.Smith.

Wow, many thanks for this Martin. That is amazing. Any chance of a photo of the grave?

I wonder if there is a way to contact the Chris Steadman that posted in this thread back in May 2016? It was his only post here, and he may not have seen my reply at the time, and will almost certainly be unaware of your post (though he may have been aware of where his grandfather was buried).
