With the welcome news that IM Lawrence Trent has become the manager of Fabiano Caruana...
What is the history of English players managing top players in the past say 50 years?
(BTW, This is not an excuse to spew out old and multiply repeated material about The Times chess correspondant)

Re: Management of Top Players
I'm inclined to think nil. Would any of the top English players have had managers, other than immediate family?John Upham wrote: What is the history of English players managing top players in the past say 50 years?

Kasparov's manager for a number of years, Owen Williams (South African not English and a tennis not a chess player), might bear some comparison to Lawrence Trent if his partnership with Caruana is for real, and sustained for a time.

Looks like Lawrence Trent...
will be working with/managing Fabiano Caruana. Best wishes to them.
