Round Seven spectators (?) at the 93rd Tradewise Hastings International Congress were treated to a move five novelty in the Queen's Gambit Declined when David Fryer played 5...Nxg4 not previously recorded in MegaBase 2017.

Previous moves were

1. d4 d5 2. c4 e6 3. Nf3 Nf6 4. Nc3 Be7 5. g4 ?!

Enjoy !

That's quite a common idea in the Queen's Gambit these days, but I don't think I've seen it in that exact position.

I suspect they selected their opponents for this line fairly carefully.
