8 Kxc6 , Very Ezra Lutton "Bump and run"
I love sleep, I need 8 hours a day and about 10 at night - Bill Hicks
I would die happy if I beat Wood Green in the Eastman Cup final - Richmond LL captain.
Hating the Yankees since 2002. Hating the Jets since 2001.

Peter Roberson is a strong young player. I never understand, though, why people think that randomly throwing pieces at a king with his Nike's on is at all likely to work. Stop the bu'r first!

Thoughts:
a) 7. Qf7+ seems pointless, just unclogging Black's development, was 7. Qe2 better?
b) I guess 6. Ng6 Nf6 7. Qh3 gxh6 8. Qxh8 Nd4 is good for Black?
c) Why doesn't White just play naturally, with 4. d4 Bxf5 5. Bb5 ...? Surely Black's backward e-pawn and pinned Nc6 must count for something?

all valid questions ,especially qf7 - this I remember came up at the tournament itself, its one youd play with 1 second but not 1 hour.

I think its a good game to show psychological chess. Peter is 190 strength was a top 175-180 then as well.

A walk to d6 is impressive to just get there so early.

Paul McKeown wrote:I agree! A forum called Chess about.... Chess!

To kick it off, I would post a 46 page article about the well-known Popov/Larsen/Sowray variation of the Alekhine's Defence, which I wrote about a year and a half ago, but never sent for publication, although I'm sure its of a sufficiently high standard.
Here is the promised article.

Just a word of explanation:
a) the figurines are in Chessbase Times New Roman
b) the diagrams are in Zurich Diagram

If anyone is actually interested I will replace the figurines with N for knight, etc. If anyone is really, really interested, I might do something with the diagrams too.

Regards,
Paul M.

Sorry - Carl - I cannot attach a .doc. HELP!!

Try that (a little short of time this morning...) but it "should" work - otherwise I will have to look at the settings later
