I am not sure whether this if this is the correct sub-forum
for this post because I could not find a computer chess section.
The Nimzo_3d GUI is a chess program for Windows 7 - 11
It is an enhanced version of the Tarrasch Chess GUI written
by Bill Forster, which has the following additional features :-
Shootout mode
Printing functions
User defined board bitmaps
Puzzle mode
PGN game file search functions
Engine match and tournament functions
Automatic game analysis functions
3d graphics with DirectX
Game sound effects
Play on Fics, the Free Internet Chess Server
Use and make Polyglot .bin opening books
Media player for making and playing videos
An evaluation profile window
Automatic game replay function
Multi-lingual version with 40 languages
Rated game feature for playing weakened chess engines
Comprehensive .chm help file
The program downloads are now quite large, 550 - 570 Mb
because of the < UCI_LimitStrength > engines
for the < Rated game > feature and the 3d piece sets.
If this download is too large for you there is a smaller version (3.6)
which has a size of 59 Mb and is hosted on the games website < Uptodown >
The latest version of the program can be downloaded from the following links -
https://www.mediafire.com/file/keju8i1j ... ss.7z/file
https://drive.proton.me/urls/6Z9VHY1EA0#QaySk8e0jYZS
For those users for whom English is not their first language
there is now a multi-lingual version with support for 40 languages -
https://www.mediafire.com/file/f9vr2ein ... ml.7z/file
https://drive.proton.me/urls/6R8JG89B1W#P0jjBH6QIkjf
The program is now 64-bit, but 32-bit versions are still available
for download from the Nimzo_3d websites -
https://nimzo-3d-chess-gui.infinityfreeapp.com
https://nimzo-3d-chess-gui.elementfx.com
There is a large database Caissabase2025 in Tarrasch/Nimzo_3d format
with 5.3 million games, available for download (370 Mb) from -
https://www.mediafire.com/file/0ke2wgo3 ... 25.7z/file
The program can also use standard PGN files.
For anyone that wants to try to add more features to the program
there is a download with Visual Studio project files, program source code and
instructions on how to build the wxWidgets libraries used in the program.
It is set up with the same directory structure that I use when
writing the program. It is available at the following links -
https://www.mediafire.com/file/kzgjykr3 ... ld.7z/file
https://drive.proton.me/urls/93VTAFC2YR#H4KgdDTw9Dph
The program is free and open source.
All files have been checked for viruses with Avast free anti-virus software
version 25.11.10580g and come up clean.

Nimzo 3d Chess GUI for Windows - Version 4.0
Re: Nimzo 3d Chess GUI for Windows - Version 4.0
Dear Nimzo_3d users,
It has been brought to my attention
in a post on the Chessable forum by Ladyhawke79 and
by Ponti and Jonathan003 on the Talk Chess forum
that the Wasp 550 engine in the rated engines that
was cotained in the Nimzo_3d installation package
may have a virus.
When checked on Virus Total it gets a count
of 36/68 so that makes it very suspicious.
The other Wasp engines contained in the package
get the following counts -
Wasp360-x32 1/66
Wasp360-x64 0/71
Wasp450-x32 0/69
Wasp450-x64 1/68
Wasp700-avx 0/71
If only 1 virus checker flags a virus,
I think that can be discounted as a false positive.
I downloaded and checked some other versions of the Wasp 550
and Wasp550-ancient gets a count of 24/72
but curiously Wasp550-avx comes up totally clean with 0/70
Anyway, I would recommend deleting the Wasp 550 engine
from the directory :-
C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\Nimzo_3d\rated_engines\Wasp
Users who are ultra-cautious may want to delete
the entire Wasp engine directory.
I would add that when I made the installation packages
I did check all of the files with Avast free anti-virus
and all of the files came up clean, as did the installer
when I checked that on Virus Total.
However, when I tried to load the Wasp 550 engine into Nimzo_3d
Avast free anti-virus flags it as having a possible virus.
If I remember correctly, I only loaded the first engine in each
of the engine directories to see if it worked ok
and then assumed that the rest would as well.
Clearly, this was a mistake and I have now checked them all.
My apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Dear Nimzo_3d users,
I have added a new feature for a 2d full screen view.
This allows you to have a larger chess board.
You may find it useful for games against an engine.
Previous links for the program now point to the
new version 4.1
I have also made some updates of various versions for exiting users,
which can be downloaded from the following links -
English language version 64-bit - Size 21 Megabytes

Re: Nimzo 3d Chess GUI for Windows - Version 4.2
Dear Nimzo_3d users,
I have added some more features to the full screen layout.
There is now an optional engine analysis window
with an optional toolbar.
The full screen window layout is now saved and restored.
The opening training feature can now be used in full screen mode,
in the same limited way as in 3d graphics mode.
There were a couple of minor bugs in the switch to and from
full screen mode which I have fixed.
There is also an < Adjourn game > feature so that
you can save and restore games with their clock times.
This is accessed from < Main menu > < Games >

Dear Nimzo_3d users,
I have written a new version 4.3, that has an option to have the < Media Player >
which plays chess videos, as a docked window in the 2d screens.
This works better with the game move list.
The new full version can be downloaded from these links -
English language version - 64-bit
https://www.mediafire.com/file/keju8i1j ... s.7z/file
Multi lingual version - 64-bit
https://www.mediafire.com/file/f9vr2ein ... ml.7z/file
32-bit versions can be downloaded from the the Nimzo_3d websites -
https://nimzo-3d-chess-gui.infinityfreeapp.com
https://nimzo-3d-chess-gui.elementfx.com
For existing users of the program, there are updates for various setups -

To go with this improved feature, there are 8 new AI generated chess game videos,
packaged as a separate download -
London vs Edinburgh 1824 Correspondence match, Game 2
McDonnell vs Labourdonnais 1834 Match 4, Game 1
Anderssen vs Steinitz 1866 Match game 3
Capablanca vs Bernstein, San Sebastian 1911 Round 1
Capablanca vs Janowski, San Sebastian 1911 Round 4
Rubinstein vs Capablanca, San Sebastian 1911 Round 13
Capablanca vs Nimzowitsch, Bad Kissengen, 1928 Round 10
Alekhine vs Bogolyubov 1929 Wch Match game 11
The videos are available in English, French and German.
and can be downloaded from the Nimzo_3d websites.
The English videos can be downloaded from -
https://e.pcloud.link/publink/show?code ... drbHVVIcHV
Here is a link to a screenshot of one of the videos being used in the program -
https://imgbox.com/hmHIkZqO
For anyone who wants to make these particular videos in other languages,
I have made a package of the required components, along with instructions
and the recommended free software needed -
https://www.mediafire.com/file/706sc8ai ... _1.7z/file
If you have a previous version of the program, although there are some minor bug fixes
in the new version, it is really only worth downloading if you are interested in seeing the videos.
