Hi John,

Have you got this yet?

I have one, it has a cartoon of Jonathan Speelman on the cover.
It's in good nick I have written in ink 'Great Games' on it to remind what was inside
and some of the games have a wee tick.

But yours for free just PM me your address.

Of course I looked to see why you woud want it.
(I suspect to burn it. You are tracing all the copies ever printed so nobody
will ever see that 10 move loss an 11 year old.)

I see someone fell for that Queen winning trap in the Milner Barry French.
Happens everyday I hear you say, but this was in a County Match
between Yorkshire and Warwickshire. (No names given. Why?) :?

One interesting thing that caught my eye and perhaps this should
go in that thread on 'The Master Game'.

Page 340. Odds and Ends.

It complains about the swearing in the post analysis in the 1982-82 Master Game series
and thinks the 'expletive deleted' approach should have been taken on the sound track.

I cannot recall any swearing.
(maybe that is why the BBC won't release them, they are too rude.)

Dear Geoff,

I would like to accept your very kind offer. I want to read the biographical article about C.H. Stanley which it should contain.

I have put my address in a P.M. to you, as you asked. The message is in my outbox at present. All that is needed now is for me to discover how to send it!

Thanks again,

John Townsend

My P.M. to Geoff is still in my outbox. Would someone tell me how I send it, please?

Thanks,

John

It may be the time when Quinteros kept saying, "Oh my God, I'm winning, winning" (or some such). The country came to a standstill, mobs marched on the BBC, armed police were mobilised in Tunbridge Wells, Radio 1 DJs expressed their outrage, etc.

John Nunn did say that when he played Tony Miles, one of the latter's comments was "cocky little b*gger", which was edited into "cocky little".

Thanks, Brendan, but I think I've gone past that stage.

The process I followed was:

1. Click on PM at the bottom of Geoff's post.

2. Type in the text of my PM to Geoff.

3. Submit.

My PM is now in the Outbox.

I've just tried again, so I have two in the outbox now!

John

John, if a message is in the outbox it means it has been sent successfully, but the recipient hasn't read it yet.

Many thanks, Daniel. That explains it! I am used to Outlook Express, where a message hasn't been sent yet if it is in the Outbox.

Best wishes,

John

Yep - it stays in your ure...outbox until the other party is onlien to receive the message. You are far from the first person to be confused by the feature

Hi John.

That caught me out as well when I first used the PM feature.
I sent the same message 3 times.

Magazine on it's way.

Nice chess address, I want to live again in a place with an address like that.
For 6-7 years my home address was:
The Edinburgh Chess Club, 1 Alva St, Edinburgh.
