Looking at Ivanchuk's game after 9 moves I certainly wouldn't pick it out as a position you'd likely see at the Candidates.

In this case i think only if you take the view that all equal material endgames are 'drawn' by definition...

Well it's not quite equal material, Carlsen has Q + N against Q + B and his knight seems better.

I did think around move 25 that is was almost bound to be drawn but in view of what happened, maybe Carlsen was winning all the time.

Flash Viewer has White having played the impossible 43. Qc7 in reply to 42...Qc7, though only on the scoresheet and not on the board

I read the above before logging on to the live transmission, and I assumed you meant Carlsen had won, but I see the game is still in progress and looks very unclear to me (move 43). I also can't quite work out why it is showing Aronian as having won, as that looks equally unclear to me! (It is showing 0-1 after 33...Qa3). Kramnik-Grischuk is showing as a draw, and Svidler looks to be winning(?) in the position I see after 44.Bxc5.

Frustratingly, the flash viewer is showing the latest few moves, but the position is frozen at "43.Qc7". Does anyone know where one can see the current position that is not the main site (not loading for me for some reason). It looks like the queens are off, but I'm not sure what that means. I think Gelfand has/had the better position. EDIT: All OK now, I didn't think to click "refresh"...
