This must be a mistake. Chess.com shows three games still in progress, with Blomqvist having won for Sweden.John Moore wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 2:42 pmDid Barbados really win on the bottom two boards against Sweden.

The correct result is now shown on Chess24.
Barbados ½ - 3½ Sweden

The Open results all went with the seedings with none of the underdogs scoring more than 1 game point. Chad are sitting on their own with one match point and two game points having been paired as a bye.
Acceleration whether by the Baku method or otherwise seems to have been abandoned. The sceond round will however be top quarter v second quarter and third quarter v fourth.

'76 open and 70 women's teams won 4-0.'
The USA dropped ½ a point v Angola, Silva (2315)- Aronian (2775).
It could have been a whole point.
The USA were already 3-0 up so David Silva (white ) offered a draw.
Lev is not playing in round two (v Paraguay ) to give him time to rest and recover.
The biggest rating shock was in the Women's event when Cynthia Obondo from Kenya (1439)
defeated the Romanian Alessia-Mihaela Ciolacu (2163).
The Chess Drum give a valid explanation on ' How does something like this happen?

If you go there check out the Angolan team shirts. Brilliant, real retina burners.

Gawain's opponent used to play for Harrow chess club. No idea if he is still based in the UK.

Ravia's opponent has just replied to his apparently substandard 46th with an even more substandard 46th of her own, which the computer says gives him mate in eight if he finds it.

Confirmed upsets so far would seem to include Zambia beating Denmark and Bulgaria whitewashing Croatia

Croatia didn't lose 0 - 4 to Bulgaria, but they did lose ½ - 3½. Denmark lost to Zambia 1½ - 2½.JustinHorton wrote: ↑Sat Jul 30, 2022 3:22 pmConfirmed upsets so far would seem to include Zambia beating Denmark and Bulgaria whitewashing Croatia
A curiosity is that the latter encounter was a battle between the countries of two candidates for FIDE Deputy President, with Zambia (Cheripov; Ncube) prevailing over Denmark (Baryshpolets; Nielsen).
