Pretty much to plan so far. Luke has played very solidly with Black and Gawain is pushing on 4. Board 1 is down as equal but it looks an incredibly complex position to me. I wouldn't be surprised to see some mistakes over the coming few moves.

In the Howell game, it's a sea of red at chessbomb, although that's because David is playing +7 moves rather than +14 as suggested by Stockfish. He's living on the increment, but that's quite normal.

Artemiev v Izoria looks likely to decide the Russia v USA match in favour of the former.
Meanwhile Goryachkina currently has a level position as Black against Ushenina.

David has won, but Mickey looks completely lost and Luke is swapping off into a presumable draw. So it may be down to Gawain to win an ending in which his advantages do include the clock.

Elsewhere China and Russia are both set to win by the minimum and India are also favourites albeit with a way still to go.

The computers reckon Guseinov is now equal with Sasikiran, who needs to win if India are to win the match, but there's plenty of play left and not so much time...

The stockfish at chessbomb likes White's position. But ask it to suggest a line of play for White, all it will do is shuffle the King and the two pieces. Plausible winning plans would be a sacrifice or a Zugswang. There doesn't seem any prospect of either. Presumably there aren't any anti-draw provisions in place, so they aren't going to have to shuffle for fifty moves or until they contrive a repetition.
