TePe Sigeman 2019 tournament
New England number one Gawain Jones has got off to a good start in this tournament, beating Parham
Maghsoodloo with the Black pieces, though Gawain missed a winning tactic earlier on move 24 (not easy to calculate, from what I can tell). That was the only win of the round.

Gawain managed to squeeze in 5 games in the Italian league between Reykjavik and this tournament! So the win over Maghsoodloo puts him back where he started in terms of live rating.

After 3 rounds Gawain and Harikrishna lead on 2/3

Another win for Gawain

Gawain (3/4) now the exchange up in round 5 after a blunder by Nisipeanu, while co-leader Harikrishna (3/4) looks to be drawing in the endgame against Saric.

It looks like it will be drawn by perpetual after Gawain didn't play the best moves.

23...f5 took some playing. Nerveless (and wholly accurate), into White's crossfire.

4 draws in the final round sees Gawain win the tournament and his live rating hit 2709.2 according to 2700chess
Impressive, he's certainly playing well

Anybody know why Nepo and Carlsen had a fit of the giggles during their game.
