I think we can safely say that the endgame is not Wang's strong point. May be true of other Chinese players as well.

And Nepo it is.

I look forward to the match. Magnus will be favourite, but Nepo is not without chances.
At least I don't expect draw, draw, draw...

Alekseenko has just committed the most horrendous error

Be fair, it was a most outrageous swindle. Jon Speelman on twitch has been going through the lines and is highly impressed.JustinHorton wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 4:50 pmAlekseenko has just committed the most horrendous error

Also I am far from convinced I could find the win the computer finds after 48 ... Rxb4 49. Qxb4 Qxd3 50. Nf3 Qf1+ 51. Ng1 Bd4 52. Qb8+ Kh7 53. Qf4 Bxf2, which continues to elude Ganguly, Polgar and Sachdev in the Chess24 commentary box

Re: Candidates Tournament 2020
Wang's play in the passage leading up to move 40 was less than precise again today.

Clearly the cat has helped his chess; does said cat have a name, do we know?

He didn't say - he just said it had destroyed his old chair, if I followed him.

Re: Candidates Tournament 2020
I love the comment below that Nepo is cheating online using cats - he has 384 cats each representing a piece (RNBQKP) and a square. An associate in the next room releases the correct cat at the opportune moment, to signal a particular move should be played...

We're assuming the cat is called Ricky then?
