While you might have thought the UN would have been wrestling with weightier matters, they have found time to declare 20 July World Chess Day https://en.chessbase.com/post/july-20th ... -chess-day I notice it falls during the British Championships in Torquay.

I believe they say the same about football and cricket but in the real world the behaviour is exactly the opposite.
