Stopping of the Candidates Tournament
You can vote for one or more of the first four options, or for the fifth option.
The poll will run for 30 days. You may change your vote during that time.
I am not expressing any opinion, but I wished to give others the opportunity to do so.

Maybe not (so far anyway) the result that some were expecting?

Re: Stopping of the Candidates Tournament
I was a bit surprised by the question. Asking FIDE to acknowledge this has gone wrong and to try to do better seems appropriate. But it doesn't seem like an individual error or the result of anyone acting in bad faith.
I was tempted to vote for Short to resign, but only because that always seems a sensible option...

Calls for resignations have been made elsewhere, for instance by Justin Horton at https://twitter.com/ejhchess/status/1243095960013746178.Paul Cooksey wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 7:00 amI was a bit surprised by the question. So I wanted to ascertain the opinions of members of this Forum. I named the three individuals who seemed to me to be the most public advocates of proceeding with the Candidates from the moment that Radjabov withdrew.

Why would the first of these things have anything to do with the second?David Sedgwick wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 7:20 amCalls for resignations have been made elsewhere, for instance by Justin Horton at https://twitter.com/ejhchess/status/1243095960013746178.Paul Cooksey wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 7:00 amI was a bit surprised by the question. This looks entirely reasonable to me. Had David not backed up his opening statement with an example, you might have been the first to ask where he had found evidence for it.JustinHorton wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 8:38 amWhy would the first of these things have anything to do with the second?David Sedgwick wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 7:20 amCalls for resignations have been made elsewhere.....

Ah, I do get the point now. You're saying that David's two-pronged comment might have stood alone rather than appearing as a reply to Paul's. Fair enough, but surely just a minor technicality.

Ah, not quite, but I can see now that I shouldn't have included Paul's comment in the quote part of the posting.

Paul said that he was surprised by the question(s) which I had asked, so I was seeking to explain why I had asked them.

For which I am grateful. That said, with all due lack of respect to Justin, has anyone whose opinion FIDE might care about asked for resignations?
I had not seen anyone go this far, other than those like eg Danilov who were fiercely critical already.

And they aren't a bad enemy for FIDE to have.....
