or is 4. 3. 2. 1. used to reduce the tied players to two for the playoff?
I think so
Bad wording if so. Should say "If three or more players" not "If two or more players"!

They start in half an hour? (Don't want to step away and miss it!)

If you missed the start you missed Caruana v Nepo in its entirety

Is Poland on some weird half-hour time zone? (Following it now!)

It's on the same time zone I am despite being a thousand miles (or whatever) to the east

Looks like we might get the tie-breaks we never got in the classical WCC.

EDIT: Spoke too soon!

And a four-way tie it is.

So it seems to be Abdusattorov and Nepo?

Seems like that. Comment on Chessbomb (unverified) said:
Carlsen speaking to NRK, saying he thinks the rule about a playoff for only the top two with the same amount of points is "completely idiotic".
Apparently, Carlsen went over to the Abdusattorov-Duda game to check the position during his game against Nakamura. Duda was, I think, winning at that point. Duda throwing away the win I think meant Carlsen is out of the tie-breaks (would have been Carlsen against Nepo at that point, as Duda and Caruana presumably lost out in that scenario).

Caruana almost never got a look in, in any scenarios, so bit strange he agreed a quick draw. I'd like to see Abdusattorov win, but best of luck to both players.

It wasn't whenever I've been there. It's India that goes for that sort of thing. (off-topic hint - if you are in India and have an analogue watch, turn it upside down and that tells you the time here. If you are in India, wear two watches, so you know the time there as well, or you might miss dinner.)

Well, the lad's got a blitz game with White to win the thing

And the young padawan won it! World Champion at 17 (missing a couple of mates in 2 along the way. Very dramatic!)

Abdusattorov can count himself a very fortunate young man indeed. He drew both games in later rounds today after Fedoseev had been [+7.0]; and Gukesh [+4.5]. I'll 'allow' him his win v. Carlsen because that was largely Carlsen's own fault

Given that "everybody knows" that Caruana is a rabbit at rapid, he may have thought that 1st equal was sufficient to prove them wrong.
