I was startled to see the opening of Gorshtein v Royal: 1 c4 Nf6 2 Nf3 g6 3 Nc3 Bg7 4 e4 e5!? which appears to be a novelty of the last few years, notably used in Niemann v Woodward 0-1 in the 2023 World Junior.

After an hour's play and 17 moves, the queens are off and it's +0.4 to White, which suggests that whatever Lawrence calculates is needed for the final round will indeed be relevant.
