Later-ouch! David blundered at move 40, last before the time control, with Re6? (a4! Black is winning) and after Qd5xc5 is now worse.....
And now things have gone even more horribly wrong.
Later - win for Fressinet

Adams is seeded 7 with 22 to qualify for the World Cup payday. 7.5/11 will probably qualify, 7/11 means at best tiebreaks.. But now with 5.5./8 he has R+2 v R+3 on the same side of the board against GM Edouard of France, so looks like 1.5/2 needed. He's cutting it fine.

So Howell needs 2/2, with a likely white in the final round to come. Very doable.

So Adams is probably out of it, but Howell has a chance. He's recovered well from the Fressinet debacle.

As well as yesterday's disappointment. He has amazing spirit and fighting qualities to recover from setbacks so I'm really pleased he still has a chance. I'm obviously gutted for Mickey though.

Mission accomplished, 2/2 with a double black to finish on 7.5/11. The tie-breaks await.

Fantastic results from David (I'm not good enough to judge the quality of his play)
I thought the draw had been unkind giving him 2 blacks to finish, so very impressed with these results - good luck to him in the tie-breaks
