International Round Up 9/8/10
GRENKE Rapid World Championship
http://www.chesstigers.de/ccm10/tournam ... 1&round=11
English scores were as follows: David Howell 8.5/11, Nigel Davies 8, Tom Wiley 6.5, Malcolm Pein 6. 701 players played and the winner was Gata Kamsky with 10/11, ahead of Gashimov, Aronian & Bareev with 9.5. Ingrid Lauterbach scored 5/11 in the women’s event. Apologies for any English omissions, of the 701 players the majority aren’t labelled by country so it’s possible I’ve missed some.

Philip Taylor-Bowd 3.5,
Steven Barr & Brian Smith 3.
Congratulations to Sam Collins, from Ireland, who achieved a well deserved second GM norm. He finished on 6/9 and had a 2597 performance. However, under the rule that allows one low rated player to count as 2200 he was comfortably over the average required and drew a tense last round game a pawn down in a rook ending. He had also been performing at well over 2600 throughout the event and scored 3.5/6 against the GMs he played from rounds 3-8! His results can be found here: http://tournamentservice.com/playerdeta ... up=&snr=37
