Correct Loz. Start time is 3pm local time, with zero default time in operation.
Re: European Individual Chess Championship Mar 21st - 3rd Ap
I'd like to thank the tournament website for trying to give me a heart attack by posting a headline on their site alleging that four of the English GMs hadn't registered and would therefore not be included in the draw. Completely untrue as it turned out they had registered several hours earlierSean Hewitt wrote:Correct Loz. Start time is 3pm local time, with zero default time in operation.

And happily no defaults. In fact, having seen zero defaults in action now, it's nowhere near as bad as I had feared it would be.

Would you consider it at an e2e4 event?Sean Hewitt wrote:And happily no defaults. In fact, having seen zero defaults in action now, it's nowhere near as bad as I had feared it would be.

No, it's unnecessary for us.Gareth Harley-Yeo wrote:Would you consider it at an e2e4 event?Sean Hewitt wrote:And happily no defaults. In fact, having seen zero defaults in action now, it's nowhere near as bad as I had feared it would be.
But for a major event with sponsors present, players staying locally etc, I have seen that it can actually work. I was fearful beforehand, let me tell you!
I am sure that sponsors expect to see (and are pleased to actually see) two players at every board at the start of play!
Re: European Individual Chess Championship Mar 21st - 3rd Ap
Do they announce five minutes to start time etc as seems be the case at most FIDE governed events?Sean Hewitt wrote:No, it's unnecessary for us.Gareth Harley-Yeo wrote:Would you consider it at an e2e4 event?Sean Hewitt wrote:And happily no defaults. There was also a great result for the Scot Clement Shreeves (2125ish) against the Italian GM Daniele Vocaturo (2564), he won
Re: European Individual Chess Championship Mar 21st - 3rd Ap
The results of the Scottish players can be followed here: http://chess-results.com/tnr45941.aspx? ... -1&wi=1000Alan Walton wrote:There was also a great result for the Scot Clement Shreeves (2125ish) against the Italian GM Daniele Vocaturo (2564), he won
I'm very pleased they don't use accelerated pairings as it gives players like Matthew and Clement and Terry a chance to play and take points of the GMs.
