Draw on 11 is a bit odd, isn't it. 7.5 won't qualify, will it.

I suspect some will, depending on tie-break.

I worry about Luke's position. I suspect 16 .. h5 was because he couldn't see how to meet the idea of Ng3 and f5. The Bd3 idea in the KID is dangerous.

I thought Luke was doing well :? After Qe7 it looks like white has to sacrifice a pawn with e5 as Ng3 is met by h4. Maybe he get lots of play though.

I thought Ng3 would be well met by Ng4 threatening Nxh2 and Qh4 and also lining up possibilites of Ne3 or Ne5 if the white f pawn ever advances.

On second thoughts, ater Qe7 maybe f5 and Nf4 is dangerous. It looks fairly clear that both sides want to win to get to 8.5 which will be 1st=

Can anyone see why Luke played 27...Kg7 instead of Kg8?

Maybe he thought 28...Rh8 was possible now? Unfortunately I don't think it is. Looks like a dead duck... can he qualify if he loses?

Looks all over, possibly he missed 28.... Re5 29 Rg3+ Kf8 30 Qh6+ Ke7 31 Rgf3. Easy to do under such pressure. 27...Kg8 seemed a better chance so he had the option of 28....Qe5.

Not sure about the tie-breaks, depends on the remaining games but hope he still qualifies.

Just saw Luke. He thinks he's busted on tie break. Still walking around with a smile like he's won the lottery though!

Well i suppose he can console himself with the thought that he is one game closer to giving up the Kings Indian Defence ;)
