Don't forget it's running under FIDE's anti-chess rule of zero time forfeits.
Seems the Georgians misunderstood the instructions and put their clocks BACK an hour, so a gentler rule than zero tolerance would not have saved them.

According to the Chessvibes report, Georgia does not have daylight saving in the summer. I do now have some sympathy. :(

Depends how far they were staying from the venue. As many who have played in the 4ncl will confirm, a great advantage of the old standard 1hr default time (as opposed to the needless reduction to 30 minutes in many English events) is that it gives time for fellow players to notice that something is wrong, and get into contact with the missing players before it's too late.

A comfortable hold in 33 moves for Gawain today with black against Inarkiev

Looks like Azarov will get the only win from the leaders and take the outright and sole lead with four rounds left.

Gawain has drawn with black against Caruana, the top seed, after 40 moves in a King's Indian.

Elsewhere, Mamedyarov was defaulted for not being sat down at the start of play. He was allegedly eight seconds late arriving.

That's just ridiculous in my humble opinion.

Ironically, the winner of the game was one of the Georgians who had lost by default in round 6.

That is putting it mildly. Why do we allow the dickheads at FIDE to get away with this garbage??

Good to see Adam Hunt draw. I'm guessing there are still chances for something there. Looking at Howell's result, didn't he play Neverov at Hastings (EDIT: I see he beat Neverov with White at Hastings 2010/11, but lost with Black today)? And an excellent result again from Jones. He is still undefeated and a really good TPR so far.

Adam would need 2/2 if he plays someone around 2640 in round 10 or otherwise I suspect 2.5 or 3/3 depending on who he plays.
