Amateur Chess Organisation

FIDE Announcement:
Tuesday, 17 April 2012 06:14

FIDE has been informed that a certain entity with the name Amateur Chess Organisation is advertising events so-called "World Youth Championships" and "World Amateur Championships" supposed to be held in Dubai and Paris in 2012. These events do not have any official recognition neither from FIDE nor from the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

FIDE is the only global organisation recognised by the IOC to hold the World Championships in chess of all categories and age groups. FIDE informs its national federations and their members that these so called "World Championships" for Youth and Amateur categories in Dubai and Paris are not the official FIDE events and they will not be included in the FIDE rating list.

This is a repeat of the same announcement made at about this time last year. A certain Director wanted to include qualification for their events into the British until I pointed this out.
