Unfortunately my sources tell me the precious document was left on an antique shelf and has been eaten by termites to the utter despair of the vengeful owner.

I'm pleased to see that the FIDE website has been updated with 11 English GM norms, 21 IM norms and 2 WIM norms added. There should be 5 further GM norms, 8 IM norms and 2 WGM norms. I have submitted IM title applications for Peter Sowray & Chris Duncan (both conditional on them reaching 2400) and hope to complete applications for John Richardson & John Nicholson soon, again both conditional on rating.

It is very regrettable that some of these applications (and norms) weren't submitted sooner, some date back many years.

Payment will be required at the time of the application. It's a case of weighing up if to apply now and possibly not get the 2400 rating or not apply, get to 2400 and then find out there's a problem with one of the norms. Clearly it would have been a lot cheaper if the applications had been submitted when these players gained their third norm, or at least when the rules changed so that norms didn't expire.

Yes, applications would only be made at the request of the player.

John has several norms and an application should have been made at the time the rules were changed meaning that norms no longer expired. Needless to say, trying to find crosstables for events played in the 80s and getting federations to sign the certificates is not an easy task.

I asked for a replacement certificate for my International Organiser title on the grounds that the way it was that it was packed caused the pin on the badge to leave a hole in the certificate
