The FIDE site announces that new Bulgarian players can be offered a FIDE Identification Number and that tournaments may now be rated etc.

http://www.fide.com/component/content/a ... garia.html
FIDE are happy to announce that after communication with the temporary FIDE relationship commission members (consisting of GM Kiril Georgiev, GM Antoaneta Stefanova, GM Alexander Delchev and interim FIDE rating officer ICCF IM and FIDE IA Milen Petrov) we have come to the following agreement:
"All requests for FIDE rated tournaments must be sent up-front to the following email address: [email protected] with copy to [email protected]."

Qualification Commission not involved?

QC are involved in individual registrations of normal tournaments only when they are late. The announcement makes it clear that none will be late.

"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Kirsan, it seems is standing for President of the Russian Chess Federation.

There are reportedly 5 other candidates, not including the incumbent, Filatov

I thought Filatov was rich enough to be a chess sponsor/patron in his own right. Perhaps that's the allegation, that he's trying to buy a seat on the FIDE Presidential Board.

Arguably those Federations who would never, ever, support the re-election of Kirsan to FIDE President would be more relaxed about Filatov.

Danailov accuses GM Rustam Kasimdzhanov of birth date fraud . The allegation runs that he won won two medals at World Junior Championships in Brazil 1995 and Armenia 1999 after lying about his age. Danailov's evidence is what he claims to be Kasimdzhanov's original birth certificate.

You probably know Chris that Danailov's also been hawking round some letter trying to demonstrate that Makro misused FIDE funds to lay for medical expenses or somesuch. This would all be quite interesting if it didn't come from literally the least reliable source in the world on this particular subject.

The allegation isn't entirely clear, but at least one spin could be that Kirsan financed medical treatment for his beloved deputy. Kirsan funds and FIDE funds being interchangeable.

It could, though another spin might be that nothing Danailov says is to be believed or even taken seriously unless and until it comes from somebody else entirely.

Not sure it's just the absence of proper paragraphing that makes that hard to follow.

The Bulgarian Chess Federation was founded in 1928 apparently.

The Football.Association was founded in 1863, but that doesn't mean the year appears in the name.

By tradition, that is the sort of name you use when you wish to reconstitute an earlier organisation while walking away from any historical baggage. I have no idea whether that is the case here.
