The London Chess Classic has announced dates and nine of the ten participants.

No announcements yet on the format of the accompanying tournaments. The Classic has a ten day format, starting on Friday, December 4th, with a rest day on Wednesday 10th.

I thought I had seen an announcement that they would invite Adams. Perhaps they are reconsidering.

Planning is underway. I attended a meeting on the subject yesterday.

I can't give any details or any indication of when they will be announced.

At the Kings Place Rapidplay last week it was announced that Michael Adams had accepted his invitation to play in the Classic. It was also confirmed that there would be no Super Rapidplay Open this year presumably due to the increase in the number of players (and playing rounds).

I have provisionally booked a week off work to play in (assuming it is being held) the Open. I am hoping the extra days will allow a more humane schedule than last year's event.

Malcolm Pein has asked me to announce that there has been a change of plan. There will now be a Rapidplay Open.

The Open will have only one double round day.

Those travelling by public transport will curse the organisers if the double round day is a weekday and the round times require travelling in the morning peak.

Adams is well class but is it time for a more marketable generation like say Giri and Howell?

Hitherto there have been 8 players and 2 arbiters on stage.

Now there needs to be room for 10 players.

Work out who is going to get ejected.

The London Chess Classic is now part of a circuit of three events and nine players, one of whom is Giri. The final place is a local wild card.

Adams is confirmed.
The two-day rapid is on the final weekend.
The FIDE open is at the beginning and, as already stated here, only has one double-round day near the start (Saturday).
