Just to add to Leonard's post, I appreciate that there is a degree of doubt about New York being the venue for the championship match. But all I can say is that it is definitely happening in New York and we will make an announcement in the next two to three weeks. We have some incredibly exciting plans for the Championship match and I know that everyone is keen to hear as much detail as possible as quickly as possible. So as soon as we are ready to announce details, we will do so at the earliest possible moment.

Days to the deadline announced and we might just make it. Fingers crossed ...

I think they should play under a large portrait of Bobby Fischer.
I float like a pawn island and sting like an ignored knight

One day remaining.

Won’t be tomorrow after all, apparently

"May take another few days" says Tarjei

Venue = South Street Seaport according to Tarjei

If my progressively less reliable memory serves,, that’s a bustling (noisy) tourist trap on the South East corner of Manhattan

chess24 report
The Fulton Market building in Lower Manhattan’s South Street Seaport will host the encounter from 10-30 November, with Agon appearing to back down on the demand to publish the moves exclusively on their own website. So far the identity of the sponsors remains a mystery.

The incredibly exciting plans appear to be charging spectators up to $50 a ticket and a gift shop selling souvenirs. Clearly AGON are a game changer.

That's much the same as Ray Keene and the PCA came up with for the 1993 match at the Savoy. If anything their prices were higher.

The last World Championship match, held in Sochi in Russia in 2014, enjoyed record-breaking coverage with the total audience for the whole event topping 1.2 billion people.

FIDE and Agon Limited will provide a live broadcast of the Match through it’s http://worldchess.com/ website.

Celebrity fans of the sport include Jay Z, Kevin Spacey, Jude Law, Arnold Schwarzenegger and President Obama.
Have we got a bingo card for this stuff?
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

My memory - see disclaimer above - is that they originally wanted to charge £40 and £80 and then someway into the match cut prices to £20 and £40. Possibly it was £40 and £20 to start with and later cut down from there. Either way, Pretty steep now let along 20+ years ago. Certainly it was enough to put me - fresh out of university (albeit debt free unlike those in a similar position today) - off from attending.

Wasn’t attendance at the '95 match free? You just had to but a ticket to get up to the top of the world trade centre like everybody else. Different times, of course.
