Naka doesn't want to want to do it too often though otherwise people might start calling him Hikaru "J' adoube" Nakamura.

Yes Martin, that is my deficient memory - he called the foul in the 7th frame.

Presumably both FIDE and Agon are now hoping that he will finish well up the prize list.

Yeah, well they both need the money (not).

The ECF International Director says that FIDE is broke.

He then likely sits there realising that its all on camera and the implications of his actions.

When I played football the thought of diving under the impact of a foul literally never crossed my mind. Similarly in this situation after picking up a piece, saying "J'adoube" simply wouldn't cross my mind.

Perhaps years of playing bullet chess, for which having a 'win by any means necessary' approach is required to maintain his prized highest rating is embedded into his psyche.
Exactamente! I wrote a blog about precisely that point and got slated for it. You get an internet blitz king like Naka in a Candidates tournament you are going to get some blitz muscle memory kicking in doesn't make him a bad person.

What he did after it kicked in can confirm or redeem him.

I wonder if he'll be asked about Thursday's events today.
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Well considering it will cost him 10% of his earning to date at the Candidates he'll be suitably reticent.

I think you are reading a way too much into this episode. Nakamura apparently moved on from that episode faster than you.

In Italy there's a saying that some people see dishonesty and mischief everywhere only because they know those all too well.

Except he has: http://en.chessbase.com/post/candidates ... ts-topalov
(video)

Basically says it's not a big deal, he 'probably did' touch the king and blames Levon for making a big deal of it.

Which kind of ties in with my previous post about how burglars blame householders for getting caught!

Well that interview does him no credit at all.

Does anybody know who the interviewer was? Also, does anybody know if there was a post-game interview or press conference, like Aronian's on Thursday?
