Amazingly, I don't think Rg7 threatens anything.

Oh, and Adams is winning now.

I was convinced that White was mating (in Nigel's game) but then realised that after the White queen goes to the back rank, Black's king can just take the h-pawn.

36...Rc7 from Nigel is very impressive. He added defences to g7, instead of playing 36...Bxe3+ (which actually loses as it takes away protection from g7).

39 Qe8 in Nigel's game might have caused him to regret not playing 38 .. Be3 - now that he has the Rook defending g7!

The coverage isn't great, no idea about the accuracy of the clock times, which makes watching time scrambles difficult

I hope Mickey has won, and that Nigel follows suit, for the best team result ever/since when?

I was wondering that.

Latvia look likely to do for Holland in the second match.

Only one winning line for Short, he has to play 42...f2+ (apparently 42...Qxe3+ is only good enough to draw).
Other sources confirming 1-0 win for Adams.

Once Nigel works out that 42 .. Qe3+ is no good, he will (hopefully) find 42 .. f3+ which wins very easily with the threat of Bc4. Mickey's game is now confirmed as a win.

But not 43...Bc4 yet. Not sure what is taking so long...

EDIT: It's done now, and a win. Great result!!
