We can assume that the Syrian women are significantly stronger than their gradings. Having looked at Sarah's game where she found 51 d6, I decided not to look any further. We've all done it - you decide that position is a dead draw against someone you expect to beat comfortably and you think that anything will do. Then you discover that it's no longer a half point that you are losing but the full point.PeterFarr wrote:If people are interested in results with big rating upsets, look no further than England women v Syria women.
Yes indeed, anybody can sit at home and pretend it could never happen to them. I would be interested to know the story of the Syrian team, you wonder how they managed to raise a side at all.John Moore wrote:We can assume that the Syrian women are significantly stronger than their gradings. I suspect that him being ill was rather more relevant albeit Malcolm's preference was to play Nigel against Li Chau anyway.MJMcCready wrote:I'm not sure dropping Gawain was best when he's on a roll.
On the basis of this thread England are getting on for as many captains as players in this eventLawrenceCooper wrote:I suspect that him being ill was rather more relevant albeit Malcolm's preference was to play Nigel against Li Chau anyway.MJMcCready wrote:I'm not sure dropping Gawain was best when he's on a roll.
A joke? Hopefully.JustinHorton wrote:What's this?
Surely you would carry out checks after the game, not during? Presumably there are appeals being filed and so on. What do the regulations actually say about this?ChessVibes wrote:@nigelshortchess refused anti-cheating check during game. Penalty is forfeit. Takes guts to turn England's 3-1 win over China into 2-2.
