Incredible - Aronian blunders a piece on move 10, and Karjakin missed it!

A slightly unusual idea. It's always possible that he saw it and also saw apparent counterplay. Lev presumably missed it entirely. .. f6 is a move I expect he wants to play, but not if it fails tactically.

Brilliant play from Gawain. Turned down a couple of invitations to repeat, pressed and now likely has a winning position.

Yes, good win for Gawain, 4 on the bounce now, keeps him in the joint lead with Ragger

Smirim is half a point back with Lu & Xiong a point off the lead

Gawain has white against L'Ami next

Gawain now England number 2 on live rating

Magnus missed a win at move 56. Now they are on move 95 and it looks like being a very long endgame with Magnus trying to grind out a win, but will probably be a draw unless someone blunders.

Some moves for his ego late on but rather unprofessional from Magnus I feel.

The last capture was at move 62 and there haven't been any pawn moves since, so a potential 50 move draw claim is very close unless Magnus can risk a pawn move. ( now move 106 )

They've contrived to go into the ending with Rook Pawn and wrong colour Bishop and the game has ended in a stalemate.

R,B and 2P against Q is normally a win for the former I would have thought.

White having a RP and "wrong" colour B is what stymied Carlsen here. He will be quite annoyed I suspect.

Has anyone got access to the Lomonosov tables to check?
