Ding to the fore (as Black) again.
Good news too for those who don't really want to see Radjabov qualify.

"Those who would prefer MVL to qualify" might be a better way of putting it?Jonathan Rogers wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2017 5:22 pmDing to the fore (as Black) again.

I have nothing against TR, indeed I am pleased that he is showing some form again.

I don't think so; currently neither MVL or Radjabov are qualifying i.e. Shak & Grischuk would be thereMatt Mackenzie wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2017 6:19 pm"Those who would prefer MVL to qualify" might be a better way of putting it?Jonathan Rogers wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2017 5:22 pmDing to the fore (as Black) again.

Ding-Aronian & MVL-Nakamura have already halved out.

I'm guessing MVL's strategy is to hang on to his +2 for a bit until he thinks he knows what he needs to do.

It's +1 at the moment isn't it from his round 1 win?JustinHorton wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2017 2:13 pmI'm guessing MVL's strategy is to hang on to his +2 for a bit until he thinks he knows what he needs to do.

Is ir? I must have misread the rather weird scoreboard on the official site.

All draws so far with only Eljanov - Inarkiev still playing
MVL presumably knows he can't afford a loss, and is waiting for a chance to press for a win; I guess he probably needs 2 wins to qualify from here?

Six out of nine games drawn in fewer than 25 moves.
Really?!
Why would sponsors or (paying spectators) pay good money for that?

It was a dismal round, but the players are looking to the result of the tournament, or even the series. On the specific point, as a spectator, I wouldn't be better amused if they had been forced to stagger on to move 30.Mike Truran wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2017 9:28 pmSix out of nine games drawn in fewer than 25 moves.

No consolation to the round 5 spectators but the previous round which included Aronian-Giri and a spectacular Ding game was one of the more memorable days of Grand Prix chess.NickFaulks wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2017 10:51 pmIt was a dismal round, but the players are looking to the result of the tournament, or even the series. Wasn't yesterday the "rest day"?
