Lacking the competence to either find this year's regulations or entirely understand last year's, am I right in thinking that there are no extra games if there are joint winners, but the tiebreaker for places will involve average rating of opponents?

Anna Rudolph says this is right, so presumably we should know who has the best tie-break scores before the last round starts.

Oh dear - shame for Anand.

Carlsen on Board 1 for the last round - I wonder if Alex will be watching the game instead of explaining for pages why this is right. Not that I actually disagree with him - it's just that I'd rather have people talking about the games, but everyone to their own. And to be fair, Alex has done a lot more for chess in this country than I have!
