Apparently 50..a4 was the losing move Kf6 held the draw

Topalov 1-0

Boring but hard to see otherwise. I somehow see Topalov as a bad stylistic matchup for Howell

Looking much better than that right now. 2-2.5 points from those three seems a reasonable expectation. Chessbomb computer seems to prefer Topalov's position but I am not sure why.

Does anyone know the pairing rules being used? Casual observation suggests that in earlier rounds there have been more all female pairings than would otherwise have been expected. However, the just published Round 7 pairings do not seem to have followed this trend.

Standard FIDE pairings, I think. What you're seeing is normal behaviour for random variables.
