Do you know how expensive digital boards are? 125 of the things would stretch most budgets.

Yes, actually i do, I work in eCommerce so know the price of most things. Even if i didn't know the price I would find a tournament where a many times Candidate's game isn't broadcast live to be absurd. Surely they could be hired at a minimal cost?

If they gave the manufacturers sponsorship they may even get the boards for free?

I assume Anna offered the draw?
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Surely there aren't games still continuing? At approaching 11:30pm GMT shouldn't the pairings for round 4 be out?

Perhaps there's a power cut, or did someone drop the pairing cards?

It seems really amateurish.

It might have something to do with the Team Blitz going on, most of the arbiters play in this or organise and as this normally finished around midnight they upload to the website is normally late (3am according to chess results), the pairings at the hotel are normally up on the notice board around 11pm to midnight anyway

I think for one night you can go to bed not knowing the pairings, unless you are so excited you can't get to sleep without knowing them

My report on round 3 of the Tradewise Gibraltar Masters is here.

The hotel needed to effect an emergency repair to their wifi system starting at 10pm last night (Thursday 26th), which probably explains why the arbiters were unable to post pairings and results online.

Challengers Round 5 Amateur "A" G. Bishop-N Dennis. Result given as win for Black. Looking at the final position, it looks drawn to me. Mobile phone going off ?

Thanks Jack. Somehow I had a different position on the website, with just Rooks, Knights and Pawns.

Delighted to see Shropshire player Athar Ansari equal first with 4.5/5 in the Amateur A.
