Confirmation of that is now on the FIDE site.David Sedgwick wrote: ↑Fri Aug 17, 2018 4:03 pmMalcolm Pein reports in today's Daily Telegraph that Magnus Carlsen has also signed his contract.

Maybe the question mark can be removed from this thread title, or a new thread started?
I went to look at the prices, and realised that no tickets are available for rounds 10, 11 and 12.
https://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/FIDE-world-chess
"*Sales will be open after the end of the 3rd and 4th round."
If one of the players has a sizeable lead by the end of those rounds, that might impact sales, unless the organisers make it clear what happens if the match finishes early. I wonder how those tickets will be priced?

Re: 2018 World Championship in London?
In 1993 I raised the issue of what would happen if the match did not go the distance of 24 games. My concerns wee dismissed. 'They will just play exhibition games'. I couldn't be bothered to argue.
Of course, they didn't. Instead they played various exhibition matches and events.

Re: 2018 World Championship in London ECF discount?
What about the ECF negotiating a discount for its loyal (but unappreciated) membership.
-Adult members
-Family discount
-any four members of the same club perhaps ,
-or a discount for those travelling from outside London.
The ECF in return for a discount would mail the offer to its database of 10K+ members
50 days to go ....

Why not just go around the corner to The Plough and enjoy live commentary and more from Simon Williams?

What a great idea!

Re: 2018 World Championship in London
How successful have people been in booking tickets? The original day I wanted to go, the ticketmaster website said there were no tickets available, so I had to pick a different day. Maybe the venue actually has quite a small capacity.
For Fri 9 November (round 1), only VIP tickets at £600 are available, it seems.
For Sat 10 (R2), Mon 12 (R3), Thu 15 (R5), Fri 16 (R6), Sun 18 (R7) November, for general admission tickets, I got "Tickets not currently available from Ticketmaster".
For Tue 13 (R4), Mon 19 (R8), and Wed 21 (R9), general admission tickets are available.
If they don't sell many VIP tickets (the ones costing hundreds of pounds) are they likely to release more general admission tickets?
Bob's idea is a good one, but I've not renewed my ECF membership yet. I seem to have spent the money on, um, a ticket to the World Chess Championship?

With Agon's track record, you wonder whether they might make legal threats against such an initiative.Adam Raoof wrote: ↑Thu Sep 20, 2018 11:36 amWhy not just go around the corner to The Plough and enjoy live commentary and more from Simon Williams?

Adam , as a DKs veteran of 20 + years I am looking forward to visiting the Plough for commentary and a beer,
but its no substitute for the atmosphere of a live world championship.

I walked past the proposed World Championship venue on my way back from the British Museum earlier today. From the outside it looks like a rather derelict dump at the moment. I hope that it is going to be tarted up a bit before November.

Admittedly, it doesn't seem likely with this event, but that normally means someone has bought loads of tickets with the intention of selling them on at a profit. (That is illegal - don't try it!)

I'll take it over anything organised by Agon.

Does anyone else here have any experience with Ticketmaster? I get the impression that there are slow bits in the organisation, but am assuming this is due to the event organisers, not Ticketmaster:
Sounds like they haven't finished putting the logos and things on the ticket layout yet. Still time."Dispatch Status: Your tickets aren't quite ready to print yet... The event organisers are still working with us on a few final details before we can make your tickets available to print. We know you’re eager to have them in your hands, so we’re working hard to have this completed as soon as possible."
