Rex Sinquefield was unexpectedly rude about Anna Rudolph's commentary. As I mentioned in my post above she is a bubbly and very enthusiastic commentator, a strong chess player and perfect for these kind of events. Completely inappropriate comments in my opinion.

I have just examined my ticket for tomorrow and there is no small print about limited access to the theatre. The website gives the imprreession that you have unlimited access to the theatre, commentary room and other places (cafe, shop, area to play against your mates) in the venue.

The 1993 match had a move rate of 40 moves in two hours, followed by 20 moves in one hour. At the end of the six hour session there would have been an adjournment with the rest of the game played at 20 moves an hour. In practice they always managed to finish within the first day's six hours, so no adjournment sessions took place.

Six hour sessions rather than five and a faster move rate had been a Campomanes initiative to reduce adjournments. The substitute FIDE match between Karpov and Timman had used the older 40 in two and a half move rate, as had the earlier stages of the Championship cycle.

wow! Yes, I admit to not remembering the rules in 1993 and simply assuming that they must have been so, since there was no adjournment in any of the twenty games. That was actually surely a freak statistic that might have been commented on, had the match itself generally been worthy of much comment.

Yes, she immediately said who the commentator is. Probably the most she could say in the circumstances.

Do we know why as I was thinking of turning up this week to take photographs for a customer ?

I'd be a little peeved if the same was to happen.

This claim is simply not true, but it is understandable because David's tweet was sneakily worded to blame the organisers.
David did not bother to get photo accreditation for today but was allowed in anyway after briefly being questioned.
No non-journalists were allowed on to the stage and there were no mobile phones taking pictures inside the glass box (though some compact cameras were used).

So.... 23. Qb2 Qxb2 24. Bxb2 and the players knock off early? Or will Carlsen attempt to torture Caruana in the ending?

I don't see any reason not to do so. You tire your opponent out just as much as yourself by doing that.
