Sadler is the new England number 2 (in the live ratings).
Good move to declare himself unavailable ( if that's what happened ).
If he waits long enough, he might become the England number one!!

Adams appears to be at his lowest rating for some time. Mickey was 2710 in December 2012, and his live rating has descended to 2714 so far. He was last outside the 2700 club in May 2010.

To take the question more broadly without dealing in individuals I would think that their are a number of “ideals” you might want in a team event.
I started this, so I'l be less tactful.

I think Mickey is one of the archetypes of a good team player. The guy who is able to press while still being super-solid. He has had some fantastic results in team events in this style.

Nigel is a different type - a player capable of changing style according to the match requirements. Fine technique, but also willing to take huge risks. Again, likely to help a team over perform.

David, Luke and Gawain are all very fine players. But I think they all have a style that they need to play in to get their best results, and on occasion that might not be what the team needs to win narrowly.

No David Howell for the second round (and third day) running. When it comes to criticism after a loss, nothing beats you up worse than self-criticism.I do hope he's OK

Luke has drawn and Nigel's attack crashed through to leave us 2-1 up.

Levon has won, regaining the number two spot in the process maybe?

Gawain failed to hold a really tough ending so 2-2 - and let's hope David feels OK for tomorrow. Still work to do.

Well, Adams is still equal (with white), says Stockfish, doing its best to foster encouragement in these early stages ...

Adams' game at least looking markedly good now. Chance for some kind of brilliancy with 28 Nd4, says Stockfish.

and duly played (well, I suppose he wouldn't have taken on a6, if he hadn't already spotted it. Good player :P ).

Now at 32...Kh6 - where is the win? The online engine at Chessbomb is very confused, switching between a forced mating line and a line where White has a half-pawn advantage.

Entertaining draws in both matches - and this time it was our turn to snatch match results on account of boards which swung at the last moment. It must have been nice for David Howell to be the unexpected winner this time, and I hope that his poor opponent is getting more sympathy from Spanish players (it perhaps was not completely obvious that they would win on board four when he turned down opportunities to force the draw).
