I just put that into a currency converter and that's £1128.40, for those who are interested.

Thnaks
It is a bit less than 1000 Euros, as exchange rates are fluctuating.

Also, here there is a public exchange rate and an administrative exchange rate givven to traders only.

Looked online for information about this tournament - nothing. Maybe there's an entry form somewhere in Farsi, but the English version of the Iranian Chess Federation's page hasn't been updated since last year. And if it had, I would still say "not until you un-ban Dorsa Derakhshani".

The matter with Dorsa & Borna is not something in control of the federation, I guess.

The regulations for the tournament was not translated. The organizer was seemingly not considering foreign players taking part. But if you wish to take part, let me know (Plus your name and FIDE rating [not national rating] and a scan of passport) and I will let them know.
The entry fee is about 30 pounds (1500000 or 1700000 IRRs depending on the FIDE rating).

It was the federation that banned Dorsa. That's pretty well within the federation's control to un-ban her.

Also it seems applications for visas to enter Iran have to be made well in advance, and in person at the Iranian embassy in London. You can't just show up in Iran.

Given that she's now representing the USA, and not IRI, I'm not sure I understand the problem.

What insane troll logic is that? You ban someone from your team, they go and play for a different team, you take their absence from your team as proof that the ban isn't affecting them so you might as well leave it in place?

"We're not banning you from all Halls of Fame, Pete. Just this one. You're in the Cincinnati Hall of Fame, so what's the problem?"

The ban was imposed:
- After she was no longer playing chess in Iran (she lived in Europe), and
- After she had already chosen to not play chess for Iran in international competitions.

The ban stopped her doing things she wasn't doing anyway. In fact, having then changed from IRI to USA, her professional chess opportunities may well have increased. I think you could argue that she's in a better situation now than she was before the ban, and it was the ban that kick-started that whole process.

You could argue that, yes, but you would be a patronising troll if you argued that, because she's intelligent enough to have "kick-started that whole process" herself if that whole process appealed to her, without any Iranian men in suits deciding what was best for her chess career. Not that they made any pretense of doing it to benefit her chess career anyway. That's just absurd on multiple levels. And to say that the ban stopped her doing something she wasn't doing, well, by the same token the ban on Iranian women going out in public without a male escort is not at all a gross violation of human rights, because if you look around a public space in Iran, women aren't already doing that!

No Soheil, you need to stop inducing people to part with cash to enter a tournament that they simply cannot enter, because that is called fraud.
Getting visas for overseas players is something the tournament organiser needs to sort out, because in the case of Iran (and many other countries) they need to register as a sponsor. You can't just do it at the airport, that's nonsense. You risk becoming an accessory to fraud if people enter this tournament based on false information you've given them about the visa requirements.

It's worth pointing out that there is a distinction between "trolling" and "arguing for views which are contrary to those you hold".

No it isn't, waste of effort.
