Vitiugov and MVL have drawn whilst Hou Yifan is attempting to convert an extra pawn against Caruana. One far from obvious win missed on move 64.LawrenceCooper wrote: ↑Fri Apr 06, 2018 6:32 pmWins for Naiditsch & Bluebaum and a draw in the Carlsen game so far.Chris Rice wrote: ↑Fri Apr 06, 2018 12:49 pmRound 6 (2pm UK):

Turns out Hou Yifan missed her chance to enter the record books. If she had beaten Caruana yesterday, he would have been the highest rated man ever to be beaten by a woman, with the black pieces.

Here's a 5 minute video of Vincent Keymer analysing his game vs Rapport in the Grenke Open. Easy to see what the fuss is all about.

Apparently Judit Polgar still holds the record for the Classical form (she has beaten Carlsen as Black in rapid) though I wasn't told who she beat to get it. I'm guessing it was Topalov (2813) in Hoogeveen in 2006.Matt Mackenzie wrote: ↑Sat Apr 07, 2018 3:31 pmWhat is the present record?Chris Rice wrote: ↑Sat Apr 07, 2018 9:53 amTurns out Hou Yifan missed her chance to enter the record books. As Topalov was rated 2813 when he lost, and was world number 1 too, then that's higher than Caruana is at present (either 2804 or a live rating of 2809.8 when he sat down to play Hou Yifan) in terms of rating or ranking

Yes, indeed, I was wondering whether on the live ratings Caruana might have been 2814 before playing Hou Yifan as after the game he was 2012 (if you add the four points he has gained in this tournament so far). Fortunately it makes no difference as she only drew anyway.Mick Norris wrote: ↑Sat Apr 07, 2018 4:52 pmIf Topalov was rated 2813 when he lost, then that's higher than Caruana is at present (either 2804 or a live rating of 2809.8 when he sat down to play Hou Yifan)

Sorry, was editing my post while you were posting Chris
Caruana is currently rated 2804 on the FIDE rating list; his current live rating is 2808; he lost 1.8 by drawing yesterday

Re: GRENKE Chess Classic 2018
All draws yesterday. Leader board going into the last round:
1 Caruana 5½
2-3 Carlsen, Vitiugov 5
4-5 Vachier-Lagrave, Aronian 4½
6 Bluebaum 4
7-9 Naiditsch, Anand, Hou Yifan 3
10 Meier 2½
Intriguingly Vitiugov has White vs Caruana so I suspect that match will decide the tournament as Carlsen has it all to do needing a win as Black vs Anand. Wouldn't rule it out of course and Vishy will know he could be in for a very long day. As usual 2pm UK start.
1 Hou, Yifan (3) — Naiditsch, A. (3)
2 Aronian, L. (4½) — Bluebaum, M. (4)
3 Vitiugov, N. (5) — Caruana, F. (5½)
4 Anand, V. (3) — Carlsen, M. (5)
5 Vachier-Lagr. (4½) — Meier, Georg (2½)
1 Caruana 5½
2-3 Carlsen, Vitiugov 5
4-5 Vachier-Lagrave, Aronian 4½
6 Bluebaum 4
7-9 Naiditsch, Anand, Hou Yifan 3
10 Meier 2½

Indeed. I think those times were after Aronian's 40th move so he had 50 minutes added on but the opponent didn't.NickFaulks wrote: ↑Mon Apr 09, 2018 4:43 pmBut they each got half a point, no bonus for playing fast.LawrenceCooper wrote: ↑Mon Apr 09, 2018 4:37 pmI just noticed clock times of Aronian 2h 13m, Bluebaum 2m 11s

Anand-Carlsen drawn so Magnus won't be first this time
