The June issue of Chess has just been published.
Anyone expecting mention of Nigel deciding to stand for FIDE President will be disappointed. Not a word.

According to the chessdom site, the specific issue is the inclusion of the fake person Glen Stark.NickFaulks wrote: ↑Wed May 30, 2018 11:02 pm

To be honest, that does look like a legitimate complaint. I would have preferred Kirsan to be allowed to destroy his own campaign, which he can do perfectly well, but maybe including a fake person on a ticket is impossible to ignore.Roger de Coverly wrote: ↑Fri Jun 01, 2018 8:22 amAccording to the chessdom site, the specific issue is the inclusion of the fake person Glen Stark.

Malcolm has covered Nigel's candidature in his Daily Telegraph column.

The Chessdom report seems dubious to me for two reasons.NickFaulks wrote: ↑Fri Jun 01, 2018 9:25 amTo be honest, that does look like a legitimate complaint. Firstly, the FIDE statement refers to a decision taken at the Presidential Board meeting in early April, about three weeks before Ilyumzhinov announced his ticket including "Glen Stark".
Secondly, while Ilyumzhinov may have announced his ticket, I doubt whether he has yet sumbitted it to FIDE. I would have thought that only if and when he has done that, with "Glen Stark" on it, could he be said to have included a fake person on his ticket.

Both good ones. I shall return to my original assumption that the complaint relates to Kirsan's accusations that FIDE funds were used to pay for Makro's medical treatment, which are in conflict with all the evidence.David Sedgwick wrote: ↑Fri Jun 01, 2018 11:35 amThe Chessdom report seems dubious to me for two reasons.

Not seeing why that would affect its appearing in CHESS, to be honestDavid Sedgwick wrote: ↑Fri Jun 01, 2018 11:27 amRoger de Coverly wrote: ↑Thu May 31, 2018 7:38 pmThe June issue of Chess has just been published.

I suggest determining whether the news came out before the current issue went to press (it seems it did), asking if the news will be covered (properly!) in the next issue (the election is not until later in the year), and writing letters to the editor and see if they are published.
EDIT: The June issue of CHESS went to the printers on 23 May according to the Twitter feed of the editor (Richard Palliser).

It has been stable at 3 for a while now; it will be interesting to see if this changes now he has announced his teamNickFaulks wrote: ↑Wed May 23, 2018 3:57 pmI've just noticed that since I last checked half of Malcolm's support has walked off.Mick Norris wrote: ↑Wed May 23, 2018 12:17 pmI think an equally valid view if you do think 1 or more candidate is suitable, is that the ECF shouldn't support anyone publicly, as they will be choosing between Nigel & Malcolm

I see he's on the Makro/Malcolm ticket with other FIDE insiders; Kirsan will be presenting himself as the change candidate at this rateDavid Robertson wrote: ↑Tue May 22, 2018 9:24 pmOverruled. The question posed was 'Which Candidate Should the ECF Support in the FIDE Presidential Election?'
Another interesting question is 'Who would you like to see as FIDE President? The two answers may be different, but equally valid. It would have been interesting to have the two answers next to each other, but, of course, anonymous. A non-ECF person could also repond to the originl question differently from a member of the ECF, with otherwise identical views.

Makropoulos has been Continuity Kirsan from the outset. He's simply FIDE sans the Clown; the no-change candidate. And D V Sundar!! Good grief - the small-minded tyrant of the AICF. Makropoulos merely has to tip the wink that the gravy train will continue to run, and enough delegates will pile on board. Not sure what Malcolm Pein is doing in this company. Holding his nose, I imagineMick Norris wrote: ↑Mon Jun 04, 2018 9:20 pmI see he's on the Makro/Malcolm ticket with other FIDE insiders; Kirsan will be presenting himself as the change candidate at this rateDavid Robertson wrote: ↑Tue May 22, 2018 9:24 pmOverruled.
