Of course, because Rules Commission has no teeth. I doubt that Dvorkovich can be treated like that.Stewart Reuben wrote: ↑Fri Jun 15, 2018 10:33 pmThey have also been flouted concerning the Laws of Chess.

And if, as Spraggett alludes, there were to be a stitch-up between the Russians and Makro - putting the band back together again - where would that leave Malcolm Pein and his ambitions for 2022? Answers in a single word, frankly

Seems like the fourth candidate is now announced.

It's suggested that Kirsan will withdraw, having lost Putin's support. The Dvorkovich slate and Makro's might amalgamate, possibly dumping Malcolm in the process. The FIDE establishment votes will then be against the outsider, this time Nigel, as they were in 2006, 2010 and 2014.

If AD and GM team up, which is entirely possible now, then I hope MP and NS will do the same - I'm not sure of the current relationship between Malcolm and Nigel, but together they could well make a formidable challenge.

Interesting view X Soviet
Organising international chess events has always been important to Russia - plus using FIDE for money laundering

Yes, it would solve a lot of problems, and make plenty of sense - for many of us, certainlyMark Adams wrote: ↑Sun Jun 17, 2018 12:03 pmIf AD and GM team up, which is entirely possible now, then I hope MP and NS will do the same
The relationship remains civil, possibly cordial. Words have been said. But both are intelligent grown-ups, and have known each other for years, warts/foibles and all. They have met at Leuven, and will doubtless have had plenty to chew over, given developmentsI'm not sure of the current relationship between Malcolm and Nigel
Alas, not. Not in prospects of winning anyway. They'd make a formidable case for cleaning up FIDE. But FIDE delegates don't want things 'cleaned up'. They want more of the gravy train. Makro and Sundar are addicted to gravy. So the Russians will supply it in return for influence and controltogether they could well make a formidable challenge

Unfortunately true. I think it's been the case for some while that the only certain way of preventing Kirsan's presidency being for life would be if Putin sacked him.

X Soviet really does lose the plot sometimes. Seriously, how many billions does she think can you launder through chess?Mick Norris wrote: ↑Sun Jun 17, 2018 12:13 pmInteresting view X Soviet

Precisely. The entire amount you could push through FIDE in a year wouldn't buy one top end Kensington flat.

Indeed she does. Some of us remember all too well her time as editor of Chess Moves, then the BCF's official newsletter, in the late 1990s.

And those Federations who do want things cleaned up often find there delegates replaced by the FIDE Electoral Commission. In 2014 there were six challenges by the Kirsan campaign. This resulted in a 6-0 result in their favour. https://www.chess.com/news/view/delegat ... tions-6742
