According to the tablebase it was a draw at move 107, so his opponent knew how to defend or he didn't make the most testing attempts.John Moore wrote: ↑Fri Sep 28, 2018 6:53 pmI see that Noah failed to win R+B v R after 157 moves of trying!

I think the odds of 12/5 on a Caruana victory are very generous and well worth a punt.

Tough pairing, though Mickey will have white v MVL
Argentina v England women should be a close match

David’s 4.5/5 with four blacks is very impressive

Re: Batumi Olympiad
It is incredible but in this three minute interview conducted once he had finished his previous game against Azerbaijan, David notes that he ended with five Blacks in the last Olympiad and they may never give him White again.
He also revealingly says that the England team always pretend they want to win a medal but have no realistic expectations these days. Then jokes that if somehow they did win a gold this time around then that would prove that Nigel's been holding them back for 30 years.

Impressive, as is the fact that the massively out-graded South Korea team beat Iceland 2.5-1.5...JustinHorton wrote: ↑Fri Sep 28, 2018 4:28 pmHe's just beaten Helgi GretarssonKevin Thurlow wrote: ↑Thu Aug 09, 2018 9:07 pm"May have answered my own question: Martin Walker transferred from ENG to KOR in 2015"
Martin worked in South Korea some years back, so presumably he returned for another stint. It would explain why I haven't seen him around!

Re: Batumi Olympiad
The loss by Kramnik against Poland and the two wins by Caruana (both with White) over Anand and Gelfand are all well worth playing through.
Any predictions for the top two matches?
Azerbaijan vs Czech Republic
Poland vs Ukraine
And which of the chasing teams are most likely to be in contention for medals?
You'd still bet on USA, China and Russia to power through at the end, wouldn't you?

He was worse (though not actually lost) at one point, hence the apparent confusion.Christopher Kreuzer wrote: ↑Fri Sep 28, 2018 3:57 pmKramnik is winning his game
