James Adair progressing towards the 2500 rating that would give him the GM title (if I have understood correctly)

Not as smoothly as we'd like: he's just played a shocker in rd 6 :(

James Adair got back on his feet in rd 7 - but only by squeezing past a 1900, presumably a grossly-underrated Greek junior. He lies 3rd overall, but is Elo-level for the tournament to date. He has it all to do today though - White against top-seed, GM Delchev

Why would anyone make this absurd "presumption"? The opponent is 18 ( for chess purposes ) and has played 85 rated games in the past two years. There is no reason why his rating should be inaccurate.

Not only that, his rating appears to be on a downward spiral. https://ratings.fide.com/id.phtml?event=4264681

He seems to be doing ok at move 40

A draw is a rating gain so a good pairing I would have thought

A complex game, but Adair now has a winning advantage if he can keep a clear head.

Adair has won. How does this leave him fixed for the last round?

On rating +6 for the tournament.

Very impressive performance today from Adair. In control all the way, and calmly batted away efforts by Delchev to complicate at #40. Makes up for losing the plot in rd 6. Final round, he faces a presumably underrated junior again - and should, on the evidence to hand, win

Indeed. This one has played only 126 rated games in the past two years, so the English can safely assume that his FIDE rating is meaningless.

A last round win for James means he finishes 1st= on 7.5/9.

That's good Puts his rating over 2490 I assume

Wonder where he will play next
