Were Scotland planning on voting for Nigel?
Scotland was on the list of those nominating Makro.

But the ECF nominated Nigel, so it doesn't always indicate voting intent on election day.

Voting underway with Afghanistan. Nations called up one by one, so it could be a while.
Where are they up to now, Alex? Any idea how long it will take before all federations have voted?

Interesting video clip of the moment Nigel withdrew taken not from the Chess.com live stream but from somebody seated almost directly behind the Makro team.

They were up to FYROM (Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) when chess.com stopped their livestream.

Thanks both. So that's an hour to get maybe halfway...

Yes. I will never again complain about ECF voting processes...

Wonder if all the organisations that were supporting Nigel were aware of his intentions?
Upthread Andy Howie suggested he knew in advance. Were Scotland planning on voting for Nigel?
Very generous if they were, since he neither thinks they should exist as a federation nor that Scotland exists as a nation

He admitted the decision was strategic. It was decided, not unanimously, by his team yesterday morning. "We realized we wouldn’t win, and change is the main priority.” (Chess.com)

We've just had Zimbabwe, which is the last country. We now await the result.

No but it didn't take the brains of a bishop to work it out

Gelfer et al were just taking the ballot box out of the assembly. So counting has not yet begun.

Whenever it takes this long there has to be a sneaking suspicion that one of the tellers has sneaked off to the bookies. Perhaps that's the alternative to sponsorship?

Recount, apparently:
While the sun is getting weaker in Batumi, the votes are still being (recounted). It should be done soon now.
Not sure if that is a formal recount (because it was close), or just a normal routine recounting check.
Presumably the (remaining) candidates are told first who won, and then the Assembly.
