Now on 3 out of 4 after a quick win in the Main today.
I think this post was meant for elsewhere?
There isn't a seperate thread for Mike's section so here seems as good a place as any.

Two wins for black in round 6, Mamedyarov leads on 4.5/6, ahead of Carlsen on 4, MVL, Navara & Svidler on 3 and Georgiadis on 0.5.

Despite Black playing the Najdorf it's been an interesting tussle in Carlsen v Vachier-Lagrave today, with MVL giving up a couple of pawns for a tasty initiative. Meanwhile Mamedyarov is pressing against Navara.

I don’t get it? (either the original comment, or the response)

Carlsen duly held, Shak about to win a Rook ending v Navara to go a point clear.

Fabulously interesting rook ending. I could learn loads from it if I had any idea where to start.

The Chess24 house program seemed to think MVL might have missed a chance to win earlier.

I retain a naive belief that the choice of a Najdorf suggests that both players are looking for a combative game.

OK, I read your comment as accepting the premise behind the original statement, which i didn't understand at all. Perhaps i haven't been paying close enough attention (perhaps i should as i play it all the time!), but the idea that open Sicilian Najdorfs don't usually lead to interesting battles is news to me!

And still Georgiadis has drawn solely with the WC. Messed up a decent game against Svidler today.

Justin, you got us. The trouble is, we do know that the top players' laptops contain loads of razor-sharp variations, all leading to forced draws.
