I'm always rather pleased to see these messy and high profile disputes, in the hope that the authorities will finally be persuaded to concede a more sensible method of claiming the draw. Doesn't seem to work, though.

They were in the playing hall when I finished at about 8:30. My game wasn't too far away I didn't pick up on anything unusual going on.

Further kudos to Lancashire FM Glenn House, scalping a strong IM in Mateusz Kolosowski, rated 2448. Of the English contingent only Michael Adams beat a stronger player today. So far Glenn has beaten a GM, lost to World number 6, Anish Giri and beaten an IM. Not too shabby!
